SV - Installation

Monastery of Alcobaca, Portugal
2017
A new order that tries to redesign the space with minimum elements as possible, maximizing its usage and not disturbing the untouched UNESCO heritage.

A bi-dimensional grid was created and layered to the existing room, in a scale of 3x3m, the dimension that is allowed inside the limits of the existing walls. The distortion of this two-dimensional grid, in plan crossing the Hall from corner-to-corner and slightly curved, breaking the symmetry of this movement, add to this geometry a new value, a third dimension.
The lines become now space elements, creating tensions, defining openings, projecting shadows, building walls. At the same time, this grid function as a structure moving through the space, working as a flexible support for the new light elements to be installed in this new multifunctional space.
